Anyone out there have the problem described below??
1. I'm recording 4 channels of sound - 1 & 2 inputs are XLR line inputs from my mixer, and 3 & 4 are the internal mics.
2. When the HVX is in NOT recording mode (ie. Rec Pause), I can monitor CLEAN audio through the headphones (inputs 1 & 2).
3. When I actually RECORD onto P2 cards or FS100, I hear Digital dithering noise which sounds like timecode. Very high pitched, fast oscillating noise.
4. This recorded noise is recorded on all 4 channels.
5. When I stop recording, the sound monitored through the headphones is clean again.
6. I uploaded the contents of the P2 card into FCP and double checked to make sure the 4 audio channels where compromised. Yes they were.
7. I reversed the audio inputs 1 & 2, so that they recorded onto tracks 3 & 4 etc.. Same result.
8. I tried recording line out signals from an iPod and a separate CD Hifi player to the Inputs 1 & 2. Same result.
9. In a nutshell, IF I record with NOTHING attached to the XLR inputs on the HVX, everything is fine (just using the inbuilt mics). As soon as I connect ANYTHING to the XLR inputs, no matter what hardware the source is, the HVX records digital dithering noise on all audio tracks.
FYI, I am using a UK HVX200, PAL, DVCPROHD, AKG, Beyer, Rode mics, Soundcraft mixing console, balanced XLR throughout.
All the Best, and thanks in anticipation.
Tim (very puzzled and wondering what I'm going to do - in the middle of a 6 day session)
