Help Capturing with Card Reader

Hey guys I trying to use a card reader to Log and Transfer my footage in Final Cut Pro, but when i select the device in the LT window it says "'DCIM' contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media". Do you guys know what i'm doing wrong or what i need to change?

-Im using Final Cut Pro 7
-Footage captured with a Canon T2i.

TIA

I'm pretty sure that camera already makes .mov files with h.264 codec. There is nothing to transcode, as the files are not stored in the AVCHD file structure in a stream folder. So, you could actually just drop those mov files in the DCIM folder into FCP. However, I would recommend converting them to something more editable, like Apple ProRes. h.264 is a delivery format, not an editable one. If you try to edit those files natively I think you will find yourself with the spinning beach ball and choppy play back, especially when you add transitions or effects.

Yea that is what I am currently doing. I am using compressor to change to pr res. But I thought maybe if I did it through fcp it would automatically compress it to pro ress. Is that not possible?

Does that shoot to avi movie files?

In any case, try using the Canon EOS Movie Plugin-E1 with the hack make it work with the T2i.

I'm assuming you are using FCP 7.x on an Intel Mac.

Has anyone had any success using the LT window in final cut with their t2i footage?

I do not think it is possible. The Log and transfer for FCP looks for the AVCHD folder structure with the .mts files and meta data. The Canon DSLRs do not use this. They automatically create a .MOV file with h.264 compression, hence there is no AVCHD folder structure.
