HELP! Can't import .MXF files

The difference is that those NLEs don't support raw dv but enosoft does. Might be worth a shot, especially since changing the extension takes all of 3 seconds.

vegas has always problem about mxf files except which took it sony cameras...probably they took it with panasonic p2, you can make convert it adobe media encoder or add it to adobe premier...

From what I've learned, these are not Panasonic P2 files. At least, they weren't shot on a Panny P2 camera. They were shot on a DVX100. I believe these files were rendered out from Avid as .MXF files -- though I don't know why. I've tracked down the last person to edit them, and he did use Avid. I'm trying to find out what his render settings were now.

Well I've got it partly solved. By moving the Avid folders to the root directory, I'm now able to open, play and convert the .MXF files, using the trial of Avid Media Composer. BUT I can't seem to get any audio. I know audio was recorded direct to the tape, so there should be audio on these files. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here. Any ideas???

Well a workaround would be to export them with no audio from Avid and then re-sync them with the audio in Vegas (since when you bring the MXF into vegas, it only gives you audio). Then just re-group them together.

I now realize the problem -- these .MXF files apparently don't have any audio stream. That is, ONE of the files does have audio, but none of the others do. It's true that when pulled into Vegas they showed up as audio-only clips, but when played there wasn't actually any audio.

So now I'm at a loss. Trying to find out if audio was recorded separately.
