HELP! Can't get DV rack to work in HD

When I start DV Rack with my camera in standard def mode it works fine, but I get an error message when I try to set it up in any of the Hi Def modes. I have v2.0 with the upgrade to hi def and the decoder. When I put the P2/Tape switch in the P2 mode and then try to open the program, I get the error message. Works fine if the switch is in the Tape position. The whole reason for this camera and all this investment in laptops and software is to be able to record hi def on the lap top.

Anyone have any ideas about what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,

What's the error message you are getting? Is the camera in a non-native recording mode?

The message says - DV Rack has detected an unidentified error and must close. If this error persists contact serious magic etc. - The mode is 720P, but I tried 1080i as well and it does the same.

Thanks

Do you have SP2? Earlier versions of Microsoft's IEEE 1394 driver don't support DVCPro/DVCProHD. Also, if you have the IEEE 1394 network bridge installed (check under Network Connections), disable it, especially if you are using the ICF (Internet Connection Firewall).

Thanks all. I found the problem. Too embarassing to explain!:Drogar-Dum(DBG):

If you don't mind, please post the solution. It could conceivably help someone else down the line.

My face is a little red on this one, but here goes. When the install program left the icons on my desktop to click on, it left one at the bottom of the screen, and two more at the top. I only saw the one at the bottom that said DV Rack. When I clicked on it, it did fine in standard mode, but wouldn't boot in HD mode. After getting very frustrated from trying many times, I took a break. Good Idea! I came back and noticed the icons at the top of the page, one saying HD DV Rack v.2.0 (or something to that effect) and the other was the decoder. Well, when I clicked on the HD DV Rack icon there it was.

But then what a frustration with all the registrations time after time for each segment of the program. This registration thing stinks! (Thank you Bill Gates!!) Just getting this up and running took half a day. But then, I'm the guy trying to make it work from the wrong Icon! But the program seems to be a great way to shoot with the HVX. Did a very short test to see if PPro 2 could edit it. It Did! No effects used in the test other that resizing tho'.

I've been waiting for all this to come together since I got the camera about 3 months ago. So far it was worth the wait. I'm going to North Carolina to my Mt. Cabin (Gorgeous up there this time of year!) next week to shoot some music videos. I'll report back when I get back and tell how it went.
