Help! Cannot transfer from cards to FCP...

Hello and thank you all for any help in advance!

I have Final Cut Studio (version 5.1.4) and I'm trying to import my clips off the cards. I downloaded the XDCam clip browser and the driver and that all works just fine and dandy, but as far as just importing it straight into FCP is no good. I can't even import the mp4's that the browser converts them into because FCP gives me an error when I try importing them.

So, I am guess that this is going to be impossible for me to do this unless I have the newest version of FCP... or am I wrong? Can this be done with my version?

Basically I just need to know if there's a way to get my clips from the cards into my computer and essentially into FCP so I can clear these cards I have and start editing.

i am unable to get the log and transfer to work. i can import via XDCAM transfer but not L&T.

i am running MBP with 10.5.6, FCP 6.0.5, all my sony drivers are up to date at 2.7, and i have installed the XDCAM Log n Transfer 1.0. when i run L&T, it just won't see the card. i have tried to manually select the card via the + button but that doesn't work either. i can import P2 but no SxS.

anybody have this issue and a fix?
 
i don't know if you are addressing me or the o.p. but for me, no camera involved. card in express slot on macbook pro... mounted on desktop. xdcam transfer sees it. L&T does not.
 
Does using log and transfer effect the quality in any way (I use it to import footage from my ex1 to my computer)? I end up burning my edited work to Blu-ray and I hope that I am not loosing any image quality by using log and transfer.
 
I just had the same problem with L&T. Left it alone to import with XDCTransfer and about a half-hour later noticed that L&T had loaded the clips. And this is on a brand new MacPro. Bizarre.

Also, the manual says you'll need the Sony PDZK-LT1 L&T Utility to use L&T.
