Mac options

Mac options

assuming your on a Mac, you have several easy options, and a bunch of more complicated and Higher quality options.

One of the Easiest by far is using Toast to do it...

open toast, click the Video tab, select DVD-Video, drag your .Mov file into the main window, you can pick on the left side ifyou want a Menu (template stuff) or if you want to just play on insert. then click the big red button. Toast will encode your mov to a Vob file(s) and audio/video ts folders. you just sit back and wait. but be warned it has automatic compression built in, i havent found a way to turn it off.

Next easiest is probally IDVD, a few more steps and more menu- sub menu you have to navagiate for the first time, but its pretty easy also.

Why are you converting it to a wmv? That won't work in idvd. In final cut pro, open your sequence in the timeline, set your in and out points and go to file>export> Quicktime Movie (not Quicktime Conversion). Keep it at current settings and select make movie self contained. Save to hard drive. Drag this movie into idvd and burn.

If you are creating a data DVD with DVCProHD footage, and trying to play the movie file off of it, you will need the DVCProHD codecs on the machine you are showing it on.

If you are trying to create a video DVD, then there is a different workflow.

Tell us which you are attempting.
