help! Black line across frame

Hey guys,

I got a black line going across my frame on my camera. Is there a pixel mapping feature? A cam reset. It's not the ND filter, shots on all 4. One minute cam was clean, next bunch of clips black line and won't go away. Camera is 2 days old. Firmware 1.14-00-0.00

I'll upload clip to show.

Hi,

Contact your dealer. Or contact Panasonic immediately. Have them take a look. Something is seriously wrong. Not sure what but there is.

If in the USA, Call NJ or LA offices.

Best,

Jan

Dusty,
I just took a look at your footage and I couldn't see this line...is it horizontal or vertical? Are you sure you uploaded the right footage to vimeo?

Either way do as Jan suggests and talk directly to Panasonic.
Here is the phone number for the panasonic LA office:
(323) 436-3500

could it be a lens issue? When that area of the frame is out of focus, the line is MUCH less pronounced. Have you tried switching lens? or at least depending on your lens taking it off and checking it and putting it back on.

Nope, not the lens. Even looked at the LCD with lens off in low light against white wall. It's the sensor. No way to remap the darn sensor????

Yeah, I'm sorta bummed. I'm sure I'll get it taken care of at Abel or Panny. The cam has like less than an hour on it. Shoot, even the Gh2 has a remapping feature....But heck, even with a black line, I like this camera more than shooting with my DSLR :-)

Somebody forgot to check the gate... j/k

On a serious note, it sucks that happened. But call panasonic, I am sure they will take care of you. First real problem with an AF100 I have heard turn up, so don't get discouraged. Better the problem to turn up right away so you can get it taken care of than to happen later on durring a shoot.

Yeah, it's there at the rose, but easier to see at :35 and later.
Definitely time to call Pana, and send it in.
If it's any consolation, very nice stuff! Good luck, let us know what it was.

Your camera is so new that I would think that your supplier would swop it out for a new one to save the hassle of sending to Panasonic. In the UK we have a legal phrase 'Not of merchantable quality' that can get things quickly moving.
