Help! "Auto Off T_Reel Lock" message?

I just bought a 100b. I put a tape in, started shooting, and got an "Auto Off T_Reel Lock" message . Hmmm. The tape looked fine, but I put in another and got the same message. Both tapes were sealed and made by Panasonic. They were different types (Master and Pro) and from different retailers (B&H and Beach) so I'm presuming it's the camera.

Has anyone encountered this before, or did I get a factory fresh dud?

p.s. Sorry if this is a dupe of an old thread. I tried searching for this issue, but auto, off, t_reel, and lock all came back as too small to search. :angry:
 
page 79 of the manual says if the "auto OFF /T REEL LOCK warning appears the tape may have snapped". This happened to me once but after re-inserting the tape the message went away.
