Just dipped my camera in the drink
didn't get super soaked but judging by the posts I read its not good.
Is there any hope? I'm supposed to be shooting in two days!
I haven't dare turn it on yet. It happened 3hrs ago though i think its almost dry.

myforehead is red raw, whats worse or maybe better iwas doing a freebee for a buddy and I had a dry bag . yeah I know.I did turn it on and it works waiting to see what the tech says

no insurance?? to quote the great and powerful Hudson: Dude. Bro.

i got a years worth of insurance for $5500 worth of gear for $65 from StateFarm...$100 deductable and yes, it covers dropping it in water...lesson to everyone reading this: if you don't have insurance GO GET IT!!

So tech guy says salt water in a camera is like old age , first you begin to notice that a few things dont work quite right and then one day RIP

He also said that if you remove the wee internal battery it is possible to dunk the whole unit in distilled water. Sure better learn the lesson

State farm is a US based company? Can anyone recomend a Canadian company?

Yeah.....this just re-enforced the fact that I need insurance really bad....especially with some of situations I put my camera in....Might go with the same stuff you got Dank. What's the difference between what you got and say, buisness insurance? 65 bucks a year is damn good for 5500 bucks, that covers pretty much all of my camera related gear including my digital SLR. Now, as to what you can do about the salt water....my guess is not much. Send it to a reputable service dealer, and if they can't fix it, it probably cannot be fixed.....

I use my camera every day in the snow. I've gotten it pretty wet around the lense but it still works fine. I have a 4 year all parts all labor waranty :)
