As I was shooting a long interview (50 minutes) on SDHC SanDisk Extreme class10 45Mb/s 16MB (approximately 1:30 hours of recording) , with a AF100 and a HMC151, I didn't notice anything special. But when beginning the editing, I noticed that both cams had stopped and restarted after some 25 minutes of recording (corresponding approximately to 4,3MB of data) ... losing some seconds of recording between stop and restart!!!
Both cards were new and had been formatted in their respective cams.
I have very soon another long (1:00 hour minimum) shooting to do and I am very anxious about a repetition of this problem.
Please, can anybody help me quick?
Thank you in advance!

PS: both camera where recording using batteries functioning perfectly

There is no lost footage. Import it properly and you'll see it's all there (unless you didn't copy all of the card contents). What NLE are you using?

Thank you very much Barry. I imported the footage by copying the complete private folder directly on my Mac then I read it with Quicktime Player and there was many frames lost between the 2 files. I also imported the files in FCP7 and saw the same problem. I don't see how I could do a better import.
But, above that, is it normal that the cams (both) split the record into different files (weighting around 4GB) ? Can't they make a one file recording as the cam isn't stopped?
Thank you in advance for your answer.
(BTW, I have your AF100 book. It's really great! Thanks!)

Yes I is absolutely normal (and in fact unavoidable) that all AVCHD cameras split the recordings at 4gb file limits. But again, I assure you, nothing is lost. When you import the clips properly, the NLE uses the metadata in the clip folders to seamlessly stitch the files together. You can record 12 hours continuously and not lose a single frame.
I wouldn't expect the QT Player to know how to do it, but a proper log & transfer in fcp 7 should.

Thanks again!
In fact, when I copy the private folder to the Mac, files are distinct files and when joined in FCP7 for example, frames are lost, every time. But happily I finally used AVCCAMVIEWER from Panasonic to load the files from the card to the Mac and BINGO! It makes ONE file from the three files on the card plus the last 2 files, plus the last one!!! For info, the first 2 files were one take (bigger than 4gb) split into 2 files and the 3rd one was another one after a manual stop from the cam and a manual restart.
So the main point is: ALWAYS use AVCCAMVIEWER to download (large, split) files from the card!
I suppose the 4gb file is imposed by the format used for the cards (FAT16 or 32?), format that cannot use files longer than 4gb.
