Help a film student decide...

J, I love my ETymotic ER-6 earphones for monitoring. They isolate that whole echo thing nicely, are tiny and non-intimidating, and sound awesome. No cheaper than the Sony, but better in so many ways IMHO.

I second that JBurkey. Based on Galt's recommendations, as well as having Barry's interest (don't know if he purchased them), I bit the bullet and got a set of the Etymotic ER-6 earbuds a few months ago. They are not nearly as sexy as the Sony headphones and not talked about nearly as much. But these things REALLY cancel out external noise. They sound real good and they can fit in your shirt pocket. So, they take up virtually NO space.

They are definitely something to consider. I love mine.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'lll do some research on the ETymotic ER-6s. Nice to have options!

Remember that you need to keep money for support equipment. Decent tripod ($500), decent mics ($1000), headphones ($100), UV filter, case, extra batteries, etc. People always forget aboutthis, but it will be as much or more than your camera. If you buy good side-equipment, it will last you thru several cameras.
theres always the extra stuff. still, i might consider gettin the dvx100 because the 24p is that one thing that every film student wants. well i want money too, but its goin to a camera and equipment. damn too many decisions.

Buy a used one from this site when one goes up for sale. These guys are up front and you'll feel comfortable...Hey, it's still a DVX!

I got a dvc30 for now, and i plan to get a dvx100 later on when the price drops. the cineswitch on this cam works like a charm. Also now since i saved some extra $$$ ill be gettin some nice equipment to go with it!!! YOO SICKKK NESSS
