Help a brotha out

I just bought my dvx100 about a month ago.
im having troubles with the zooming on it, for some reason it goes out of focus when i zoom in, ..i have the switch on the side to auto focus

WHAT am i doing wrong!?!
 
Is this an original DVX100 (no A or B?)

Are you shooting in 24p mode?

If so, there is no autofocus.

In any case, even when autofocus is engaged, learning to focus manually will give you better results every time. :)
 
If the focus actually changes when you zoom in you'll want to hit the little "reset" button. I think it's under the LCD. That problem bothered me for at least a year before I figured it out.
 
I don't know what you are shooting but
when ever I setup a shot, I always zoom in to the subject and focus, then zoom out and start shooting. this way I get critical focus and when ever I have to zoom in I already have sharp focus.
very basic stuff everyone does in the field. give it a try!
