Hellp! -- Video distortion with Sony SR5

Okay, had a music event shoot last weekend. For additional footage, used a Sony SR5 and SR8. Both seem to exhibit this problem.

The footage seems to 'ripple', if that makes any sense. It stretches vertically, then returns to normal, for no apparent reason. It doesn't appear to be related to sound vibration coming from the band. The camera was mounted a good distance away, so it wasn't on the stage. I'm going to try to attach/upload a sample clip so you can see what it's doing.

Any thoughts? Is this a known problem with these cams? And most importantly, is there anything I can do to salvage the footage?

Thanks in advance!

Okay, this is weird...

When played on the timeline in Sony Vegas Pro 8.0c, the 'rippling' is obvious.

But when rendered out as an NTSC DV Widescreen .AVI file with 2-3-3-2 pulldown, there's something different. The image doesn't 'ripple', but it does seem to go in and out of focus slightly at the same points where it 'ripples' in the timeline. I also see that if I pre-render the video on the timeline using that same .AVI template, then it does the same thing when played -- going in and out of focus, rather than 'rippling'. Either way, it's an annoyance that I need to find a fix for, if at all possible.

[EDIT] I stand corrected. When I watch it frame-by-frame on the timeline after pre-rendering as .AVI, it does indeed 'ripple'. Weird!
