Hello again, I'm back from the grave...

Hi everyone,

I used to be active on this board and I even had a DVX100A at one time, (has it really been a year?!)

I'm sure you don't remember, but I had just had a daughter back then, 6 weeks premature, and bills were overwhelming me so I sold the camera.

She is almost a year old now, (my daughter and the camera. my daughter's almost ready to start walking, and last I heard, the DVX100a I sold was being used to make a doc on some major motion picture).

It's hard to imagine all the time that has passed. She used to be so small that I have a picture of her lying next to my ex DVX100a and she was quite a bit shorter than the camera.

Anyway, for the sake of old times I logged onto the site and saw the DVX100a now has a $300 rebate. I think I'm going to go ahead and get one now that insurance finally came through and covered my daughter's hospital bills like they should have in the first place...and get the camera again and see what I can do with it.

I'd like to say I am going to make a feature with it but I've said that too many times in the past, (and failed miserably to reach that goal), and perhaps I've achieved too much humility to say things like that anymore...but anyway, Spring is in the air here for now, reminds me of the first time I got my DVX100a, and what can I say...I'm nostalgic...

So my first question is, now that I'm back, is Willoughby's.com the best Pana-authorized place to get a DVX100a with its price of $3250? (I would like to buy it from EVS but I don't want to pay CA sales tax.) I see they are including Magic Bullet, but there's no mention of the DVX book/cd being included...

What do you think?

Thanks, and nice to meet you again.

Re: Hello again, I'm back from the grave...

I strongly recommend that you go with EVS. I just recently bought my dvx off Rush over there and thier customer service is unmatched. A real cool guy and a great place to buy from. It does come with Magic Bullet and with the book DVD as well (To get that, all you need to do im Jan Crittenden and she will get you it post haste- I actually just got the Book/DVD from her the other day- Thanks Jan! ;D). I'm not sure how much I ended paying, but I know that the DVX user discount that I got is less than that of Willoughby's.com. Very satisfied customer, I plan from buying there again very soon. Great place ...As I am sure that everyone here will agree... Do yourself a favor and go with EVS.

Welcome back to the board. I'm glad your daughter is doing well and that the insurance thing worked out for you. By all means, at least check with Rush and see what your final price would be before going somewhere else.

Yes, I remember you and your story. Welcome back! :D

Re: Hello again, I'm back from the grave...

Welcome back stars! I am glad your daughter is doing well. Sorry you had to sell your 'other' baby, but those things happen, and you sure had your priorities straight, as any good father would :) Email me if you like, and I will get you the price for local DVXusers. As far as tax, you can apply for the 3.25% tax rate, which gets you a tax total of about $109 rather than $350. ;D If you pickup, there is no shipping charge, cash lowers the price a little more (We don't have to pay the credit card fee...) And ofcourse, Barry's book is now in the box with Magic Bullet! My email is rush@evsonline.com

Re: Hello again, I'm back from the grave...

Can you get a better deal than that?

Well I suppose free would be a better deal...

In any case, I'm glad all is working out. :)

Re: Hello again, I'm back from the grave...

I'm going to sell my DVX and my Magic Bullet and my Barry Green Book and DVD and then I'm going to call Rush, cuz that's a sweet deal!

Re: Hello again, I'm back from the grave...

Hi TC, Terry...thanks!

RUSH...I called EVS today but they said you had Wednesday off, so I'll probably be calling tomorrow.

What's the special tax rate you were talking about?

Re: Hello again, I'm back from the grave...

Just letting you know that I too remember you quite well. Your position resonated with me because I was in a similar position. Though I chose a different solution. I just transfered all my DVX debt to a new credit card with 0% APR, made the little $10 payments you get to make during the intro period, and when the intro period was about to end, transfered to a NEW card with 0% APR and low intro payments! You just gotta work the system a bit.
Anyway, really glad to see you back here...your board name is good and I enjoy your posts, do stick around!

Antomic, I can buy that gear from you used, then sell it back to you for the same money. It'll drive my accountant nuts ;D

Hey Stars, I will see you in two weeks! For everyone else in LA, the tax rate is a special 5% discount off LA standard 8.25% rate. So a DVX only costs $109 in tax, and you get to open the box in the front lobby and inspect it before you walk away. ;D
