I'm facing a challenge...I'm supposed to shoot a band on a roof top using a helicopter.I'm meant to go round as they perform...any ideas on how best to do this?should my 7D be mounted on the camera?or should i somehow shoot from inside the chopper?

Good grief. A 7D with helicopter?

You'd be better off with a global shutter camera like the hvx200. 7D falls apart in regards to movement, so I'd be so hesitant to take it in a heli.

You'll be so far away from the talent in a heli, that the shallow DoF advantage of the 7D won't matter. Thus you'll be left with all the issues and none of the benefits.

Get a gyro mount or a gyro attachment for your camera. I'd personally get a gyro mounted under an HPX-170 and go from there.

We shot some RC heli shots for a short film with an HPX-170. It did the job, but the quality of video between that footage and the rest of the footage shot at 4K on the RED didn't really match. Luckily we only cut to the heli footage during fast action so it wasn't too jarring.
