Live action blood burst

Hi guys, i've been scrolling through your forums and thought I'd ask for some advice. I'm doing a live action performance which involves me cutting into multiple objects (probably pillows) and in an ideal world, I would like blood to spurt from them without an wires or etc. Is this possible without an aircompressor? Could I just do it with condoms full of advice. I would be grateful for the advice!

Thanks!

Umm,

You could rig a condom with blood. Tie the open end, put fishing wire over around it. Gaff tape it to the inside of the case. And pull the wire - which should cut the condom in half.

Or you can make an air squib. Even a 2litre bottle would work as a tank. Air tubing could lead to the pillow case. And a 2 way valve is screwed on the take. Pop the valve. And it will shoot out the blood pressurized.

Great video - thanks!

Hmmm, those cuts in the shirt looked pretty ragged. I think if they were done on a board then they would be much cleaner. This, of course, would require that the shirt should be completely removed from the model and..... oi, what am I saying? She's young enough to be my daughter - ewwwww. :Drogar-Shock(DBG):

OK, you younger guys take over on this one! :D

There is another version of the video where the shirt starts off. The other video is pretty funny. We tried a few different methods before we came to the condom.

Really, though, what MORE would you have seen if the shirt was off? I think I delivered pretty well for the viewers.

I'll find the other vid as it is somewhat of a learning experience. I started by trying to make the blood bag out of a ziplock bag, but I knew that CA glue (superglue) would not adhere, but I tried anyway. Let's just say it was a topless bloody mess. But we prevailed in the end with an alternate method.

Here is the other one. I didnt show the full setup at the end because the whole test was a failure - it needed to be a blood BAG.

But just so you know, it was surgical tube with a big FX syringe attached to the other end.

Enjoy. Pervs.

Ooo you guys are speedy! Opinion needed - How would I get this to work with an axe chop? (I'm taking axe to this pillow like objects and was hoping for gushing blood)

Same way that we showed you basically. Just gotta time it if using an air squib. Of course I would hope you'd be using a prop axe. Like a plastic or rubber one? Since a real axe is a no-no.

Just have to rig it, make a precut in the fabric, hit it with the fake axe and trigger the squib.

And if you don't mind my asking, why are pillows bleeding?
