HEEEELP... log and capture in safe mode??

My computer "PowerBook G4" just suddenly crapped out on me and i have a short documentary due at the end of the season break. i can boot it in safe mode but i dont beleive that the fire wire driver operates in safe mode. is there any way to bypass this??
the problem that i am having is commonly called "the blue screen of Death" ive re formatted the drive and the problem is still there, any help would be great.

Sounds like a bad (conflicting) driver in there, as you can boot into Safe mode.
Try uninstalling any unneeded programs one at a time, trying to remember if you have any "new" programs, or updates that might be the problem.

If you can boot into Safe mode, you just need to play detective.

i completely erased and formatted my whole computer, that seemed to work for others, but not me. i guess i can capture on another computer and edit in sdafe mode......but that kinda sucks. any other ideas will help. Thanx
