Heaven. Absolute Heaven. What took them so long???

Have you forgotten all the great help Pookie gave for the Steadicam? Mikko, kind of jumped into the void during Pookie's hiatus...

During that first video, I thought Garrett was getting irritated by the guy with the Tango. A couple of times he looped like he wanted to slap the guy, especially, when it just missed his head.

Pookie is a stedicam op? ;)

I AGREE

That's insane.

Yes, yes it is. Full speed running HandsFree step-off. On a live broadcast. Of ESC.

Guts. That op has them.

Everyone was having near misses (and not so misses) with the Tango at NAB. It's a whole new level of spatial awareness you need. Especially as it flies mostly like a normal Steadicam; so you can forget the camera is out there on the end of a 10' pole!

But it's loads of fun; very ingenious, and has insanely high potential for shots.

Negates a huge number of buddy-cam shots.

And to compare to the "AR" ("Alien Revolution", etc..); It's a world apart. SO much simpler and vastly more flexible.

So.. I'm curious what the consensus is on this product. Considering the advent of smaller and more lightweight cameras, combined with the versatility of a jib and stability of Steadicam, it seems like the Tango would be used more and more. However, I can't really think of a single production of note that has used one.

Anyone have any real world experience with one? What are the pros/cons? Why do you think it hasn't really taken off?

Nobody?
