Heat

What's up guys,

So I live in Dade County (South Florida) and over the course of the summer my camera malfunctioned while I was filming outdoors in pretty hot conditions. Fortunately, it recently arrived from Panasonic repaired.

It seems that the unrelenting Florida sun caused a glitch, and I wondered what steps I could take to protect my black HVX200 from the heat?

Some ideas I've had:
a) Under beach umbrella at all times
b) Placing the camera inside a shoebox with a hole cut for the front.

Comments, suggestions?
I'd hate to have a repeat in the middle of my production again.

Thanks guys.

I wouldn't go as far as to say a beach umbrella because they are so big and difficult to handle. I use a small collapsable one person umbrella and mount it to the tripod or head so it's always over the camera when I'm in hot conditions. This has worked on shoots with Sony 900's and the HVX in temperatures approaching 120 degrees in Mexico and cooler locales like 100 degree Savannah, GA.

I hope this helps.
Jim
