What are the best headphones for monitoring sound for the HVX200...im looking at the Seinhesser hd 280 pro..what do u guys think...ne others that might be better. thanks
I had the Sennheisers and they worked pretty well but they're bulky on your head. 2 channel monitoring is difficult when you're looking through a viewfinder(HVX shouldn't be a problem). On the plus side they have 64ohm impedance which makes them less loud which is nice because Sony's can give you a false level at unity gain because they run with less impedance.
my thoughts - earbuds don't keep out background noise. I like full coverage, closed off earmuffs. that's the only way you can really hear any annoying background noise like air handlers, etc.
I own the Sony 7506 and the Etymotics (which I use with my MP3 player primarily. The sound of the 7506 is quite a bit better IMHO (not that the Etymotics are bad at all) but they're certainly more bulky.
I use the Sennheiser HD280 Pro's. I love 'em. Very comfortable, sturdy, crisp. The coiled cord is really nice. I always hate worrying about ripping cables out of their jacks...
The absolute best (IMHO) are the Remote Audio HN-7506 (http://www.remoteaudio.com/hn7506.htm ). These are Helicopter-pilot headphones modified with Sony 7506 electronics. The best isolation possible, and great sound.
A cheaper option are the Direct Sound "Extreme Isolation" headphones (http://www.extremeheadphones.com/). Nice isolation, but the sound is a little heavy on the bass - not as precise as the HN7506.
