I own a pair of Technics RP-DH1200 Pro DJ Headphones, not really sure if these can be used, but sound pretty good.

I also own a pair of Bose in ear headphones, and love them.

Has anyone tried these ? They're very comfortable and light weight.

What are some specs that you would look into buying a pair of monitor headphones (what really makes them better )?
I have noticed that the two pairs of headphones (in ear & my DJ Technics) I own, make a cracking noise very easily when moving the mic around in a near to sound less room. It almost sounds like a distorted crackle or lose cable. I've checked everything, and can't figure it out.
I've also noticed that my audio is 1 - 2 second delay on the DVX100b, not sure why ?
Just like with your nearfield speakers, you want an uncolored linear output of the sound you are recording. What are some specs that you would look into buying a pair of monitor headphones (what really makes them better )?
