When monitoring sound, my skull candy headphones really bite! Can't wear them for more than an hour, I get sweaty and my ears are sore. Tried the iPod in-ear headphones, okay, but can't isolate sound very well. Please share your insight into what works best for you and why.

sony mdr 7506 ...those are pretty much the standard. I have the 7505...which is the step below and while its really good, it does get tight on the ears (and mine are small). so i;m gonna get a 7506.

I absolutely love THESE - Senheisser HD280. Especially because they really keep out noise.

I'm not a sound expert, but they have been incredibly good to me in the field and at home while working - keeping out sound so I can focus.

I have Koss MV1s and love 'em. I have had two issues, and both times Koss replaced them with another new pair, not refurbed, under the lifetime warranty.

I have no reason to not buy Koss again.

Are these headfones good for recording when you are filming with your DVX? I.e as monitoring headfones?

7506 unless your outside in bad weather / wind then the senn 280hd's, they hug your ears tighter and sound better imo, industry standary and the best aint the same. Not saying the 280's are the best but better imo.

100B-user just invest a few bucks in a pair and you should be good. I use some cheap Sony MDR-V150s to monitor in the field but in studios have used Sennheiser and AKG with good results.

i agree with the good ole mdr's. be sure to stay away from any sort of actual noise cancelling headphones, as those artificially take away sound, and there may be a discrepancy between what you hear and what gets laid down on the track.

I use the Sennheiser HD280 headphones, love 'em. Been using them for 3 years. They are virtually identical to the Sony 7506 but are usually a little cheaper.

I think B&H is giving you a free $25 gift card when you buy the HD280 right now.
