headphone jack issue

has anyone experienced this besides me -

if headphones are plugged into the jack, and i wiggle it slightly or merely twist the plug, I lose the sound in the headphones and I have to unplug/plug back in the headphones to get sound.

also, only certain types of headphones work. ie. my ipod headphones work in the jack whereas my professional headphones dont

any thoughts or is my jack just jacked?

I have two HVX-200s and both have headphone jack issues - exactly as you described it. Luckily, I am able to use my good headphones, but I have to mess around with them constantly to get sound out of the camera.

This started for me 4-6 months ago. But since I am working on a lengthy project, I haven't had time to send them off and have them fixed.

Anyone who know how to fix this without taking it to the shop, please let us know.

I don't think that there is a non-repair shop fix for this guys. I curse the stupid plastic headphone jack on the HVX, especially everytime I shoot with my DVX and admire it's metal headphone jack. Why, oh why did Panasonic save that extra .25 and use a plastic headphone jack on a camera that cost nearly twice what the DVX cost?

So far, mine is good but I anticipate going through the same thing you guys are experiencing in the near future.

Lame plastic battery tabs and lame plastic headphone jack. Two of the things I think Panasonic really blew on an otherwise awesome camera.

just an update -

you can get it fixed at an Authorized Panasonic Service Center and it's under warranty if you bought your camera within the year from a Autho'd Panasonic Dealer..

I once had a freelance soundman get his headphone snake stuck in the jack. I thought we would never get it out. I finally wiggled it from side to side to get it out. I think some headphone mini plug connectors may be slightly larger or smaller due to manufacturing defect.
