Head Wear on "New" DVX100A ???

Hello,

I just bought a new DVX100A from a seller in Burbank and after cracking it open and charging the battery I discovered that it has 0003HRS logged when I access the hours meter from the VCR Menu.

Is that possible? Does the factory "test" the camera as the salesman suggested, or did I just plunk down several thousand dollars for a "used" camera (opened and resealed box)?

Please let me know before I go postal on these people!

In my experience I have never seen a new camera showing other than 0H on the meter. The camera you bought might have been used in a demo or something similar.

on the on screen menu go to 'other functions' and scroll down to 'hour meter.'
t

same **** happened to me
but I bought it online
just go back and ask'em to exchange it and check it right there on the spot

I didnt know and was curious. Why do you have to write things like that, after all that is what this website is for, helping people.

..actually this same issue has been adressed before. a couple times. reps in manufacturing stated that it would not be uncommon for a brand new camera to be shipped showing anywhere from 0 to a few hours on the heads. It may have been Product manager Jan Crittenden that asked them directly.. that part i cant remember for sure but i think it was.. soirry if im off there Jan. it was quite a while ago. anyway ..remember that as a measure of quality control, some cameras are tested in the factory before they are shipped. i distinctly remember this issue because it made me ask the question of whether or not a brand new cameras heads should be cleaned before running MQ tapes.. becuase they may do the testing with standard wet lube tapes. and there have been issues of brand new cameras getting clogged heads when running new MQ tapes as the first tapes out of the box. anyway .. i wouldnt worry about the 3 hours on the heads.. ALOT of cameras ship like that new from the factory and its not anything to worry about.

And just know that those numbers can also be altered by folks who know how. If you bought new, it should have zero.
