Head cleaning tapes,.. why not JVC/Sony brands

Is there a reason that a Panasonic head cleaning tape should be used over a JVC or Sony cleaning tape?

panasonic made the tape. the camera is made by panasonic. why would there be a question? Just clean it with pana.

Well, because I need to clean it now and there's no Panasonic cleaning tapes in town.
According to other posts Panasonic made the DVX but also made other cheaper cameras that can't read the DVX timecode, although able to read other makes. So saying to use the Panny version because it's made by the same company IS logical but I was really looking for a technical reason.
It's probably too late anyway. I'm leaving in 30 minutes to get whatever I can.
Gotta have one now.
Actually, I'd rather clean the running gear by hand like all the other cameras I've owned but with this DVX it's impossible to get to the heads to clean them without removing the door therfore voiding my warranty.

Dude, perhaps this is an option.
RIGHT above your post.

I'm not sure about why not to use JVC or Sony Cleaning Tapes. It may be because of the different lubes (wet/dry) that other manufacturers use on their regular tapes. Not sure if that translates to the cleaning tapes, but if I had a choice I'd stick with Panny. Best of luck.

Yea, I've read that post and I know how to clean the heads but I was hoping that post would say how to get to the heads to clean team. No such luck.
Appreciate your input though, thanks.

Listen up everybody,
cleaning the heads of a camcorder or VCR really is not that difficult. Just be gentle, use chamois tipped swabs and all should be well.
My problem is getting to the heads on the DVX without major surgery. I've owned twelve other makes and models of camcorder but never had the total inability to reach the heads. Not so w/ the DVX.
I get a little faint just thinking about running an ...ULP!... cleaning tape through my camera but I don't feel like voiding my warranty on a camera thats just a couple weeks old.

Thanks for listening/reading/helping

You can use whatever head cleaner you'd like to use, just try to use the same brand each time.

Does it have to be Panasonic.......no.
