HDVF viewfinder flicker?

I have an HDVF 200 unit showing up tomorrow for my F23 and the owner mentioned that the CRT has a slight flickering effect.. what would be causing this?

The viewfinder shows up today. i should have some time tomorrow morning before work to take a look at it and see whats going on.

There are two evf plugs on the f23/35 body. Try them both out if you get flicker when you fire up the thing. At start up there is a weird series of flashes and colors and bands during the 10second startup.

I will make a note of that when I can finally get to it, thanks James :)

The flicker is there, but its very very slight, i say its just an old B&W CRT.. its almost i think normal for these kind of CRTs, not a big deal at all. the guy made it out to me thinking there was a rave going on in the VF lol.

Ah, that’s good to hear!

How is the resolution? Can you focus by it reliably?

Shooting 24P with a CRT VF, flicker is VERY noticeable. With ALL CRT VF's. It drove me crazy the first time I shot with an F900 back in the day. But your brain tunes it out pretty quickly.

Yeah thats what i figured.. im guessing it has something to do with the refresh rate of the CRT.
