HDV tape playback on HVX ????

How do i getHDV tapes that i shot on a canon HV20 to playback on my hvx205a.
I am trying to digitize old music videos i shot back in 2008.
I can't get the HDV video to play.
Please help!!

IIRC (it's been like 15 years), the HVX200 can only playback standard-definition with tapes. All HD is from the P2 cards.

You need a HDV tape camera like the HV20 to play them back.

And keep in mind not all tapes in other company's cameras will work. Many should work, but not all of them do. (JVC was the worst.)

Oh NOOOOOOOOOO you got to be kidding me.
Those old canons are running $200 for a supposedly working unit.
This really is a pain.
I have about 20 tapes so a transfer service is out.
WOW!!

I think it was meant to be for me to answer this post because I actually found an HV40 on eBay for $20 because the LCD was cracked.

Person didn't know if it worked and I took a chance on it and besides the cracked LCD which didn't work anymore, the camera was in pristine condition and operated perfectly. I used the viewfinder to change the settings I needed and then used it to digitized about 40 tapes earlier in the year.

It was probably the best eBay score I ever had.

You may notice I'm selling a capture deck in the marketplace but it's not HDV. Good luck. :)
