I have a fx1 in a PAL country and want to shoot some HDV footage then send it to a friend in USA who also owns FX1 for them to use footage in their project.
Can anyone recommend the best camera settings?
thanks

I don't know any other way than sending a Final Cut Pro 5 project with all the media files, and let the program do all the necessary conversion. I suppose that if you film in 25i or 25cineframe, your American FX1 friends will do their final editing in 23.97 so that both HDV 25 and HDV 30 footage will convert and play nicely. But the real question is, what is the final delivery format?

Yes, best looking way to convert PAL to NTSC Film, is to deinterlace 50i to 25p, and then slow down to 23.98fps (Cinema Tools conform option will do this for you).

If you want to convert 50i to 60i, then best shoot real 50i. That gives you the most options in post. Shooting CF25 can work, but you've thrown away a fair bit of resolution.

Save the stream using DHVSCap. Send it to the friend. Send the link to MPEGStremclip as well. leave the rest to him. There are plenty of options. I would not deinterlace the video before you jnow exactely what they are doing with it.
