HDV converted to 24p on Vegas?

Does anyone have any footage shot with an FX1 (NTSC, 60i) and converted to 24p on Vegas that they can post?

I am shooting a project that will stay in video (i.e., no film out), but I want to attain as much of a film look as possible within my limited budget. My camera options are either the FX1 (converted to 24p), or the DVX100 with a 16x9 adaptor. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the DVX100, but I'd really like to shoot in HDV if the 24p conversion created by Vegas is good enough.

(BTW - I can't afford the HVX or the JVC ProHDV camcorder. They're simply out of my price range, so they are not options for me. And the FX1 available to me is an NTSC model, not PAL, so my footage will have to start out as 60i.)

Thanks in advance!
Ben

I have been reading about this for some time now. Basically, if you capture as HDV and let Vegas do the conversion for you, you will get an acceptable image, at least from what I have read. However, I am responding from theory and not experience and there is huge controversy about this. I would like to share with you some of the opinions I have encountered:

1) If you let Vegas do the conversion, it will do the best job. (Almost all agree with this).

2) You can still get 24p but it won't be as 24p as capturing it with a camera that supports 24p. (heard that, not sure if it is true)

3) If you use 50i HDV (not possible with FX1, but possible with Z1u) it will be better than capturing 60i HDV (Heard that not sure if it is true.. I believe it came because there was one succesful movie shot with HDV 50i and looked great as film 50i->25p->24p)

4) There are some artifacts with HDV and interlaced and motion. I have seen some shots that might suggests that. But I am not an expert.

5) If you use FCP with Nattness (Spelling?) it will do excellent job. I use Vegas.

6) Cineform 24 (spelling) is not that good and to be avoided (although handful insist it works).

I wish Z1u does 60P HDV!

Like the first poster I'd like to see footage myself. I've never shot progressive video and have found a desireable look with 60i and Vegas 24p 3:2:2:3. So for me the choice is either to buy a DVX with true progressive or go FX1 for HD in the tradition I've always shot.

For me it's not about having the progressive image for quality, it's about having the 24p look for suspension of disbelief.
