HDV and the HVX-200?

Possibly a stupid question but I'll ask it any way.

Is there any way of getting footage recorded on the HVX to HDV tape (client demand)? Either after transfering the footage to a computer or throught the on-cam firewire using a seperate HDV recording method (if one exists)? Obviously one can get the sony or canon HDV cams but I am looking for a cheaper option that can be combined with the HVX.

You could have your NLE render out a HDV MPEG2 Transport Stream and write it to an HDV deck or camera. The HVX200 can't be used for that, however.

Find out which flavor of HDV the client wants. Compatibility between different HDV camera vendors isn't as good as it could be.

THoff, thanks again for the info. You seem to provide helpful response to many of my posts :)

In any case, managed to convice the guy to accept miniDV as HD was not really what was needed.

But in the future, what is the best low cost solution for doing this?

How does the client use the content you produce? Creating a DVD might be an option, either a normal DVD that can be played in a standalone device, or a data DVD with the video in DV25 (MiniDV) or HDV format.

It really depends on what the client does next with the stuff you give them.
