HDV 1080 to PC (firewire card) 4 Premier

Hey, this might have been coverd loads but really need to check this asap and its the one area in my work im bit hazy on, so please advise

I wil be using a HDV 1080i (HVR-A1E) for HD footage looking to transfer via firewire (no budget for edditing desk).


What firewire card wont drop any quality and works with Premier and not too steep.

I was told only the latest version of premier lets u work in HD? if so which version/s of Premiere would this be.

Premiere CS2 or Premiere CS3 will work with HDV.

Any Standard Firewire card that works with windows will work with Premiere.

And transfer over Firewire is a Data Transfer, and as such will not be affected by the hardware. You will see no drop in quality regardless of the card.

The bigger problem you might face, is whether or not Premiere has a preset for your camera. Check out the Adobe site to be sure.
 
and if you already have a firewire I/O port on your machine just use that. you dont need to have an add on card.
