HDTV to SD for CRT monitor viewing in FCP

Hey all,
I'm a new member to dvxuser.com. Been using my HVX200 for two weeks now and doing a lot of test shots in different formats to show my clients. The camera is everything I ever hoped it would be for the price and for what it can do. I just love it.

I edit with FCP 5.04, One thing I discovered editing in HD is viewer output. No problem playing back HD clps on my LCD monitor connected to the G5 video card, but when I tried to play back on my SD production CRT monitor via firewire, no go. I get a still image on the CRT from the canvas or the viewer timeline without image movement during playback. I use a CRT for color correction as well as the majority of my clients don't have HDTVs, HD LCD monitors. So I shoot in Hi Res HDTV usually 720P and import the p2 movies from the camera to FCP and downconvert the clips by importing them on the user defined sequence timeline. I then edit the HD clips and export to an SD compatable format or SD dvd so the majority of the world can enjoy. Not being able to view HD image clips on an SD monitor for editing purposes is a problem. I can't afford to put an HDTV CRT at every edit workstation. I solved the problem by purchasing the Blackmagic DickLink HD Pro 4.2.2 video bridge and installed in my G5. The DecLink HD Pro has a gui in the Tiger control panel that lets you set the output of Decklink component video signal. With HDTV component output from the card to the component inputs on the SD CRT, I can downconvert the signal to SD letterbox 16:9 and the image looks fantastic. The Decklink will also output in component 1080i HDTV, 720P to 1080i HD, HD to SD letterbox, and HD to SD anamorphic. Oh an best of all the Blackmagic software installs multiple RT settings and plugins into FCP.
Thougt I would pass on one of my experiences editing in HD.
