HDTV Field Monitor

I was wondering if you could use an HDTV as a field monitor (I know they aren't battery powered and aren't very portable, but if I'm shooting in or around houses I could get it to work). Would it be find just to connect it through the component cables to the HDTV?

Anyone? I guess I need to know if Component would work fine or if I will need to get a Component to VGA converter or a component to DVI converter.

I do it all of the time. I either use my Marshall 7 inch HDTV Monitor or my AKAI 42 inch HDTV. I can do both of them using the Component our on the HVX200. Have fun.

James, are you looping thru the Marshall to the Akai via the Marshall's output/thru? If so, have you done an A/B comparison to see if the image to the Akai is varied by the Marshall output/thru, such as a boost or other, as opposed to direct component from the HVX to the Akai?

Without a scope of some kind, such observation is subjective. Appreciate any comments or observations. Thanks.
