HDMI outputs the 3:2 frame with the camera information on the sides. However, does the HDMI support both 1080i and 720p output? If so, is the image on the 1080i version 720p or larger? That is, it appears that the image is over half the screen, a full 720p image. Since it is 1080i or 720p, it is probably a 2:3 pulldown. And since it is HDMI it is uncompressed 8-bit YUV.
So, is there really a full 720p upcompressed image hiding in the HDMI?
