HDMI output

I have searched through this thread and found some conflicting information, and it hasn't quite answered my question yet. I understand that the HDMI output drops to SD when in record mode. However, in standby mode, the signal is 1080i 29.97, correct? If I hook this signal up to a HD monitor/tv, in standby will it be the full clean signal and picture, or is it cropped in some way?

Thank you for your response diego. Do you happen to know the reason for this? Is it a technical limitation that could possibly be fixed, or a physical limitation put in place that cannot be worked around? I know as of now, this has not been possible.

A second question...this is off topic from the 5dm2, and better placed in a different forum im sure, but it is about the hdmi output and a follow up to that. Does anyone know if the cropping of the 5dm2 is also an issue on the t2i, 60d, 7d? I know the 7d does not have the step down to SD during recording, but is the hdmi signal cropped as well on these three cameras?

I did a little research in the past but didn't find anything on how to remove the black bars, so I guess it's a physical limitation. The only thing you can do is removing the white box thanks to ML.
Actually I never really cared about this issue since I own a gh2 and now an AF100, but I recorded a few takes from the 5D HDMI to the ninja just for fun when I didn't need 1920x1080.
Cannot help you on the t2i and 7d stuff, sorry.
