HDMI output during recording?

Do most/all V-DSLRs output an HDMI signal (1080p) during recording? (And not just during playback?)

I'm looking into the Canon 500D/T1i specifically.

Thanks in advance!

No, it's not a standard thing yet. I don't know that specific camera, but I would be very surprised if it put out anything more than an SD signal, based on past cameras.

A quick glance at the manual implies that it's not full resolution. "If you connect the camera to a TV set with an HDMI cable... the movie being shot will be displayed at a small size on the TV." I could be wrong, but it looks like it's not a usable/recordable image to me, just used for checking focus and the like. Which is consistent with previous products.

Only the 7D outputs a live 1080 signal, and it's 1080i, not 1080p. (Actually, it's 1080p with 3:2 pulldown.) The new Nikons might do it. The 1D Mark IV will most likely do it, but it's not on the market yet. Don't expect the T1i to do it.
