Hi all,
do you know if the F3 outputs 10bit via HDMI? I suppose it's 8bit only, but I wanted to double check with you.
Thanks,

I inquired about the same thing, found that on another forum and people here told me its really 8 bit. Still not 100 percent sure...

Even if its 10-bit (as you may hear from some others) the information within it only started at 8-bit so it can ONLY EVER BE as good as 8-bit.

What people need to look at is the bit-depth of the ORIGINATING signal - later it doesn't matter if you convert it to 10 or 12 bit. That does not make it BETTER since it only started as 8-bit depth to begin with.

If you need 10-bit use the SDI port on the back.

If your buying a external recorder, spend the little bit extra to get a SDI one. You'll be much happier and secure (pun intended). I cant imagine a used first gen SDI Samurai going for that much? I still use one when I do 2 camera with my F3, works perfectly but yeah, that monitor suuuuucks.
