I've been using a Belkin HDMI cable for my downloading, but am starting on, which I would say is the best movie ever made, so I want a good cable.

Is there anything better than the Belkin or are they all the same?

Aside from craftsmanship (e.g., connectors), there's no difference.

Personally, I wouldn't spend more than a few dollars on an HDMI cable -- check monoprice.com.

cablesforless and others sell well made HDMI cables for far less than Belkin or Monster Cable.

I consider name brands a rip off for HDMI cabling.

(And I don't use the term "rip off" that often).

An HDMI cable is transporting a stream of zeros and ones. Unlike analog cable which have impedence and loss issues, a digital cable either works or it doesnt. Monster Cables and other high end cables are snake oil, they work absolutely no better or worse than the cheapest freebie HDMI cable. When I think of all of the millions of dollars these companies make from consumers ignorance, yeesh, what a business.

Same with FireWire, USB, SDI, SPDIF or any other digital connection, they either work or they don't, there is no such thing as "higher quality" digital in these connections.
