This may be mentioned somewhere, but I haven't heard of this before so I thought I'd post an important warning. We got caught real bad by this today on a shoot.
We switched to 720/60p SH mode to do some slow-mo with the monitor disconnected so we could use the focus assist. When we connected the HDMI monitor we didn't notice the camera switched to FSH mode, which is 1080. Because we were in Manual Move Mode to get the 720/60p, the camera recorded at 29.97fps.
Two important things learned:
1. If you want to record 720/60p do not connect a monitor via HDMI. In fact, you can't monitor at all because you can't get analog AV out either.
2. With a monitor connected via HDMI you can't use focus assist.
Hopefully these issues could be remedied with a GH2 hack.
