Is the drive used in a 60Gb P2 store user swappable though not by company but can we do it say by outing a much higher available HDD ... Like we did in Firestore FS3...

Are you asking if you could swap out the harddrive in the P2 store yourself?

If so - I haven't seen anyone do that.
It's definitely not made to be swapped, and I haven't seen anyone do it.
I wouldn't recommend attempting it, unless you don't mind the risk of bricking the P2 store.

With a 60gig drive it's already a brick to most people.

in SD dayz i had FS3 firestore despite being told by lots of folks i attempted swapping a 40GB hdd to a 80GB hdd it workd then now since i dont have a P2 store i cant attempt ... was curious enough to now if there are geeks thinking on the same lines. just think if we could really do one such thing.

I at the end of the day think (pl pardon my day dreaming) there is a HDD in P2 store connected in some way what if one open the casing & put in place a normal HDD full sized one likes of 1Tb or above in the open config & then could possibly repackage the whole box in a new way as to accomodate the larger in Bytes & physical size HDD to make a P2store rock.

BTW does P2 store works as a host P2 card reader & allow one to connect another Externl HDD in USB or Firewire connectivity allowing one to read card thru P2 store & make a dump on External HDD.

whats the way to use a Lappy with PCIMCIA slot (single though) we use the laptop to read & transfer the P@ content to external or inetrnal (depending on desired space) HDD... How much time max for P2 32 GB transfer to HDD thru a Laptop with such a card slot.

Hi,

I had a P2 Store and had the same thoughts. I tried it and changed the internal HD (it's a standard Hitachi Deskstar 60GB) to a Samsung 160GB HD.

It worked, but the P2 Store sees only 60GB no matter what HD you put inside. The P2 Store is limited by the firmware to that size of HD.

There is another Thread with that topic where Jan from Panasonic stated, that there will be no firmware updates for this drive.

So the only thing you can do with this piece of hardware is to sell it as soon as possible!
