HDD High Definition Disorder?

Getting used to my HPX 170.
Wonderful instrument!

Shot a project last week in 720-30p.
Got it on the timeline and edited, all's well, I think.
At least it looks good.
The mp4 version anyway.
Mpeg 2,---could be better.
But think I nailed it.
Unintentionally?

Why is there not a template in Vegas for 720-30p under properties?
Closest I could find HDV 720-30p.
Was that a correct choice?

Shooting a 1080i-30p project later this week.
Client specs, but there are only 24p or 60i to choose from.

Am I the only one confused with properties and render settings in Vegas 9?

Is there a good tutorial to help sort out this confusion.

The last time I felt like this was in algebra class in grade 9!

OK, so I just type in a correct setting.
Thanks, thought there was a limitation to the listed ones.
Thanks.

I'e been using Vegas for years and have found it is a useful experience to render very shot clips with different codecs and settings to get a good feel for what they can do and to have a good feel for bitrates and streaming limitations.

For example, an mp-4 can make a much smaller file tha a wmv or mpeg-2 and give you better quality, but I find at higher resolutions the video can be chppy whereas wmv gives a much smoother playing file. However for that wmv to match the higher contrast look of the mpg-4 you have to up the sharpness and contrast of the wmv.
