HDcam SR vs DPX vs ProRes

Hey everyone,

I am still for the look for the right camera offer. Trying to figure out the AKS as well, so the investment would be a one stop shop.

I just was watching the old Zacuto camera shootout from 2011, and it clearly shows that Alexa is superior in exposure, but maybe not in color. However, their footage was recorded in RAW for the Alexa, and on the HDCAM SR tapes.

Now I was wondering.

With what the community have achieved over the last years, would you say that their has been an improvement to both the dynamic range, and the sampling of the image? or is recording on the 7Q on par just.

I have used HDCAM-SR, the Codex and the Odyssey with the F35 when I had it and honestly never saw any quality difference between them, even with HDCAM-SR limited to 10 bit. Although I never did any head to head testing as I owned the recorders in succession and didn't have them all available at the same time to do any testing.

In terms of quality I have not seen or heard of any improvements being made to the quality of the output over the years.
