hd100 drop outs

I shot some fotoage from my car with the HD100 and I have severe drop outs in my footage. I swapped tapes and tried the shot again, however the dropouts remain. THe footage isn't usable and I will try to post some clips. However, has anyone else shot any moving footage with the camera? That is on a dolly or from a vehicle. It's astonishing how bad the drop outs are. Could it have anything to do with the fall climate in canada. No snow, but the temp was about 10 degrees celcius while I was shooting? any help would be greatly appreciated?

I assume you took the right procedures: pre roll the tape for like a minute, use proper tapes and brand, movement not too rapid. Dropouts are supposed to be worse in HDV due to the GOP's, if you experience them.

When I tested the camera on Wednesday and played back the footage, there was what appeared to be a dropout on the HD monitor at my resellers. However, it didn't effect the time code, and was more brief than dropouts I have experienced with the Sony FX1. This was also a demo model as well, and didn't know much of its history except for that it looked like it had been used a bit, with a few scratch marks, LCD finger smears, etc.

Dropouts on the HD100 are handled differently than on the FX1. On the FX1, a dropout will cause an entire 1/2 second of footage to seize up. On the HD100, most dropouts don't affect the entire frame; instead they scrag a chunk of the frame, so there'll be glitches on parts of the frame but the rest of the frame continues to update. I've seen full-frame dropouts on the HD100 too, but even then they are resolved more quickly than the Sony implementation; on the JVC it would be 1/4 or 1/5 of a second, vs. 1/2 on the Sony.
