hd to p2 only?

is it true that the hvx only shoots hd to its p2 card, not to tape?
Yes. It's not an HDV cam. DV tape is for SD only.

Also, the Panasonic website is a good place to start, to learn about all the features of both the HVX & DVX series cameras. Just dowload the PDF brochures and it should spell out the capabilities pretty thoroughly.

no way man, have you seen the price of a pound of granite lately? that would be way too expensive. plus you can only carve like five words per pound and anyways it would make the camera way too heavy, not good for 8 hour doc shoots, kills the arm.

well, you can't put a price on the ability to keep something for eternity. Besides, it's a responsbility and a spiritual testatment to one's own will.. and a challenge not for sissy boys. There was talk of papiras (sp), scrolls, and clay earthen pottery. Apparantly

You can also get the Canon HDV.. they're throwing in a free box of steaks with any purchase.. and might fix your windshield for free.

Just to be clear, the HVX will only shoot DV to tape.

So that means that DVCPro50 (which is still SD) can only be recorded on P2 cards
(or harddrive).

Get the feeling this is the new, "What's that clunk?" question?

:)

In that case the HVX will shoot HD only onto the wax cylinder expansion pack.
Call Panasonic and ask for the 'Edison Add-On'
They'll know what you're talking about.

Actually, that's not entirely correct. The HVX will also shoot HD onto one of the Univac punch cards, as well.

(P2 cards are just 2 punch cards stuck together, with a RAID controller). :)

cine... nice... and I'm opting for recording to floppy. At 1.4 megs, you'd be recordings seconds of HD on each floppy. Coming to the gig with stacks and stacks of inexpensive media.... Baby, Just think of where we have come too.... My commodore 64 with new floppy HD will be screaming.....
