HD to DVcam To HD avid HD editing

 I am currently working on a project that was shot at 23.98 HD. I then converted the tapes to DVcam. then digitized the DVcam tapes into avid at 29.97. Then I started editing in a 29.97 avid project. But I am getting a bit worried as I need to go back to 23.98 HD for the final up-res. So my question is- If I finish editing in a 29.97 project and then import that 29.97 finished timeline into a 23.98 avid project and delete all my footage. Can I then simply do a batch didge on that old timeline that has been imported into the new 23.98 project and will my clips come in correctly(via the automatic pulldown) into the edit? Or do I have to start over now in a 23.98 avid project and redigitize all my footage into that project and recompile my edit from scratch? Since my final up-res is going to be back to HD I need to make sure that it takes the least time possible and that my time code is matching, as it will be expensive. Please only expert advice on this issue.

You will beed to make a 24 frame matchback EDL to go back to 24fps. If you are conforming in an Avid project and want to do AAF or Total COnform, you need to be editing in a 23.98 project as part of the offline.

Thanks Michael,

AAF ? Total Conform?
Since i am doing some slo mo's and fades i would rather not have to deal with an EDL export/import scenario. But I still am not sure what to do from your reply. Do I have to redigitize my clips in 23.98 and recompile my edit from scratch? or is there another way without doing the edl?

AAF contains a lot more metadata about motion effects, tiitles, PIP's etc. where EDL's start losing it after basic motion effecs and dissolves. In order to do a total conform of AAF interchange, you need to be editing at the frame rate of the final conform. In order to do that, you need to go from 30 to 24 via the EDL route and reconstruct the timeline for any missing effects.
