HD-SDI monitor with A/B inputs?

I am looking for a 7" monitor with switchable A/B HD-SDI inputs. Has anyone seen such a unit? This does not need to be a critical view monitor - it's really just to get a more general assessment of the picture. I am aware of the Odyssey 7Q+, but the way this monitor is being used on location, that's a bit too much invested into one unit. Any well built but lower resolution unit would be fine.

Thank you. The reason to avoid the external switcher is the added complexity. We are constantly building up and tearing down a live camera position, and the fewer the connections, the better.

The Shogun 7 would be one of the obvious options, but probably also too invested for your purpose (like the 7Q+).

If not, check out 6:10 below (already linked to that time) how he's switching by using the touchscreen.

Plenty of inexpensive SDI monitors exist, but not sure I've seen a cheaper, simple one with the A/B switchable feature without using another component in the chain.

Thanks Paul. I think what I'm going to end up doing is glue a small, passive A/B switcher onto the back of a 7" monitor worth about $300, and call it a day. Your feedback has help clarify the right course of action.

Not 7" but 5". The Atomos Ninja V with the AtomX SDI module attached. I use this function on two cam interviews for shot size adjustments and basic color/exposure checks. For $800 all up with a 1000nit screen it has proven to be a decent solution. Add to the fact you can record Prores and DNX with it makes it a neat little solution.

Atom's blurb:

Chris Young

"Single link SDI connections will automatically be configured based on the signal input between 12G/6G/3G/HD with the ability to toggle between input channel sources on SDI 1 and 2, both supporting up to 4Kp60. Dual-link connection are supported for 1.5G/3G and 6G standards supporting an additional range of cameras. Across all these input functions the module supports embedded time code, Record Trigger commands for leading camera vendors, up to 12 channels of embedded audio and file naming for RED/Arrri cameras. The AtomX SDI Expansion Module also allows you to cross convert signals between HDMI and SDI and vice versa."

Thanks cyvideo. I'm fairly certain that nothing exists that meets the req's I stipulated. I wrote this issue up and forwarded to ATOMOS team, and they replied with thanks. Let's see.... You never know. My current planned approach is a extension of the $300 apx Lilliput monitor that I have already field-tested, A/B button-style switcher from Taiwan, and video splitters (2 monitors needing to take the same 2 signals, no loop thru on these). If there's interest from others following this thread, I will draw this configuration out and post here.
