HD-SDI format?

The (European) EX1 user manual, page 116, states:
"The SDI OUT connector outputs serial digital signals of the same format converted from the analog component signals fed from the COMPONENT OUT connector"

Also, I've seen somewhere else a user stated that "the EX1 live HD-SDI does not support 1080/30p"...

Hence, my request for clarifying:
1. If SDI is merely the component _CONVERTED_ into digital, can it be true 10bit 4:2:2 (I'm asking, not denying)?
2. Is there really any limitation on the SDI output _FORMATS_ (e.g. 1080/25p)?

It depends on how you have the camera set:
60 (59.94) NTSC
or
50 (PAL)

Page 117 of the manual

1080/30P (29.97P) is supported in the NTSC mode

I am also very interested about this, and i ended up finding some helpful info, but i couldn't find anything about capturing live with AJA ioHD from the HD-SDI output. Anybody knows if i'll end up with a 1080i60 ProRes file?

I found this to be interesting:

"The PMW-EX1 XDCAM EX camcorder wears the CineAlta badge (because it supports "native 23.98P") and is equipped with an SDI/HD-SDI output jack that carries time code and embedded audio. When shooting live through the lens of the camcorder, the HD-SDI signal is full-raster, true 10-bit (not 8-bits of actual data but with the two high-order bits padded with zeros), with 4:2:2 chroma sampling. When output via HD-SDI, 1080p23.976 signals, whether in HQ mode or SP mode, are always encoded with a 2:3 pulldown within an interlaced 59.94 field per second datastream. The cadence in this case is such that "A" frames always appear as the "0" and "5" frames, allowing easy extraction by an NLE for those who wish to edit on a 23.976 timeline. "

Wikipedia also state this about the single HD-SDI (scroll down):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_Digital_Interface

"The nominal 1.5 Gbit/s interfaces support most high definition formats. Supported formats include 1080i60, 1080i59.94, 1080i50, 1080p30, 1080p29.97, 1080p25, 1080p24, 1080p23.98, 720p60, 720p59.94, and 720p50. In addition, there are several 1035i formats (an obsolete Japanese television standard), half-bandwidth 720p standards such as 720p24 (used in some film conversion applications, and unusual because it has an odd number of samples per line[citation needed]), and various 1080psf (progressive, segmented frame) formats. Progressive Segmented frames formats appear as interlace video but contain video which is progressively scanned. This is done to support analog monitors and televisions, many of which are incapable of locking to low field rates such as 30 Hz and 24 Hz."

But I believe the standard is 1080i 4:2:2 10bit as posted above.
