HD-SDI and HDMI 10-bit out

Just read in the "AF 100 Book" that these signals coming out of the camera are 10-bit. Others here have said it's 8-bit. Whats the REAL story?

All HDMI and all SDI outputs on all camera are 10 bit streams. It's the standard protocol for those standards. That said, the AF100 and most other camera's under $10,000 output an 8 bit signal wrapped in a 10 bit stream. That's where a lot of the confusion takes place.

Makes sense, simply leaving the first two bits set to 0, such as 0011111111.
