HD Question...

So I'm on the verge of buying a DVX right? And then the new Canon A1 comes out...

Here's my question. I know there's talk about the DVX being pretty old now, and with the A1, though may not be on the same level as the HVX, HD is now just a little cheaper to come by.

I have no experience working with HD, and I just wanted to know if i took the step to the A1, what else comes with shooting in HD? Do I need anything special to be able to edit it? What do I need to know about owning and using a HD camera?

I know to some of you this may seem like a pretty dumb question, sorry, but I am definitely still in the beginner stage! Thanks for reading, please respond with ANY input that you'd like.

Take care guys,
TB

the best thing you can do is search this forum and other forums for an hour or two, as this topic has been discussed and rediscussed by EVERYONE. also tons of google searches. there are simply too many factors to consider for just one message can tell you. but the bottom line is HD is a bit of a $investment.

Oh oh. You call the DVX old? Wait a bit. It is still the best standard def 1/3´´ DV camera and makes absolutely brilliant pictures. I just had one of my last shoots with it (HVX on its way finally) and am again stunned by the images. If you don´t need the bigger resolution the DVX will serve you well for a while still. And it can be edited on a rather modest system as opposed to HDV which basically screams for Core2 or the newest Apples. One benefit the A1 and others have over the DVX is the Zoomerange. But that is about it. Nobody beats its image. Maybe the A1 comes close, but it can´t beat the DVX in standard-def.
