HD Playing Card Spot

Hey,

I was messing around with an HVX over the weekend and ended up shooting a small montage of clips using some playing cards. I used a very small light weight Bogen fluid head, but still had a few shakes, not too bad though. Here is a link, please right click and save as, its about 23 MB h.264 quicktime

Post processing:

I exported the clips as uncompressed quicktime files and did all my color correction in After Effects 6.5 Pro. I pulled my blacks down a bit, and expanded my midtones more. I made the colors warmer in the midtone channels, then sleightly desatured the reds and yellows to give a sleight vintage look. The compression doesn't do it full jusitce, buts it pretty good....

Great point, I 'm looking for music, but I'm having a hard time finding something that screams "vintage playing cards". If anyone has any leads, preferably royalty free....let me know!

I forgot to mention some stuff about the Ace. I shot those falling shots at 60fps but wasn't happy with the speed. So I took some sandpaper and sanded away two layers of the card to make it just a bit lighter, then slowed the clips down to play at 20 fps. Not to bad looking.

Hey cardmaveric, I enjoyed your card short, Ive got some music I've done that I think would go real nice over it, its a little bit 'oceans eleven' sounding, I played it over the video and it kinda matches, might need to tweak the edit to fit but you can use it for free if ya like it. Let me know if you want me to email it ya.

sweet.. like the dramtic lighting.. music would just be the icing on the cake.. Love the ace falling... nice with the sand paper.. (free time eh?) well done..

Looked pretty cool dude... nice job on the selective focus... looked good.

BTW - I'm not sure if you're on a Mac or a PC, but if you're on a Mac, you can bang out some pretty cool music with Garageband fairly easily. On the PC, Sony has a pretty cool tool called Cinescore which will let you easily craft a score. Cinescore isn't as easy/user friendly as Garageband is, but it's also a little more advanced. Oh and if you're running FCP on the Mac, then just kick on over to Soundtrack Pro, as it'll give you quite a bit more control over your score but it's as easy as Garageband to use (and you can use the loops & instruments from Garageband in it).

PS - You can always get some royalty free music, and I'm not necessarily recommending the use of Garageband or Cinescore over a professionally arranged piece of music - but it's a lot of fun to create your own track (even if you're just using loops). You also don't have to be a musician to use any of those tools, they're pretty straight forward.

SURE! go ahead and email it to chris@chrisnuzzaco.com and I'll check it out. By the way, I put the clip up in my galleries, no music now, but its just too good to let it collect dust offline....Thanks!
